Perform Process Governance Simulation
After you have modeled your business process and defined simulation-relevant output data, such as times, costs and quantities, for activities, dialogs, script services, and Web services, you can start the simulation of the executable process (Process Governance Simulation). Objects included in the simulation, but without defined simulation data are executed with the defined attributes. If a simulated process has a loop, the corresponding process instance is automatically terminated.
Sample processes with predefined simulation data are available in the reference database Governance Automation Models.
Open the model for which you want to start Process Governance Simulation.
Define the simulation data for the relevant objects, such as activities, dialogs, script services, and Web services.
On the
Explorer tab, click the model for which you want to perform the Process Governance Simulation.Activate the Governance tab bar.
Click Process preparation > Simulate governance process. The corresponding dialog opens.
Select the process the simulation is to be started for and, if necessary, change the settings for the simulation under Configuration. The context defined for the governance process is used for the simulation.
Click OK. The simulation is performed with all possible process passes and data combinations. If the executable process has not been generated for this model yet, it is generated automatically before the simulation starts. A process for which the simulation is performed cannot be used by other users.
Check whether the process contains modeling or parameter errors.
The Governance simulation bar on the model tab lists the activities for which no simulation data is defined, and the Messages on executable processes bar on the
Explorer tab shows whether or not a simulation was successful.
Click
Application launcher >
Administration.
Click
Process administration.Click the relevant process instance under Processes.
Check the status information and the progress of the simulated process instance on Details.
Review the output data of the activities on History and the messages about the process instances on Console.
If necessary, correct modeling or parameter errors.
If the simulation of a process instance fails, the Process Governance administrator receives a notification and a message is displayed in Console in
Process administration.
If you changed the simulation data only, restart the simulation (step 5). If you changed the business process, you must update the executable process before you start the simulation. To do this, enable the Generate executable process option in the Configuration in the Simulate governance process dialog.
Carry out this procedure until the process is error-free.
If the process was reviewed using Process Governance Simulation and is error-free, you can release it.
It is not possible to start a governance process for processes generated by the simulation (
