Structure of sequence flow/message flow (BPMN)

A process in the form of a sequence flow describes the sequence in which the activities of a process are carried out. The sequence flow consists of the following objects:

  • Event (Start, Intermediate, End)

  • Activity (Process, Subprocess, Task)

  • Gateway (parallel (AND), exclusive (XOR), inclusive (OR), complex)

The objects are interconnected via the following connection types in accordance with specific conventions:

  • Sequence flow

  • Message flow
